This course introduces basic piano skills, including familiarity with symbols and terminology, touches, pedaling, sight-reading, harmonization, transposition, improvisation, and playing solo repertoire. It is the first in a four-semester sequence of keyboard skills classes that culminate in a piano proficiency evaluation to be completed at the end of the sophomore year. This course is required of all music majors and minors and is paced accordingly. It is also open to students in other disciplines.
