A study of the basic tools and field/office techniques used in surveying. Topics include: field note taking, taping distances, differential leveling, profile leveling, angular measurements, bearings and azimuths, EDM, traversing , topographic mapping and construction stakeout. The use and care of surveying equipment includes; automatic levels, transits, pocket transits, total stations, and data collectors.  An introduction to Carlson field, office and GIS computer software usage will be via the solution of a field problem.
