Welcome to OXS 430 cellular membranes. In this tutorial we will take a detailed look at what cellular membranes are made from, how they behave, how the cell selectively moves molecules across its membranes, and how membrane trafficking organizes the eukaryotic cell. Then, armed with this new expertise, we will focus on one of the great, unsolved mysteries of biology: how did the eukaryotic cell evolve? Finally, you will select and argue a position on your own scientific problem that can be viewed through the prism of membrane biology.
