This course an overview of the theory and research behind differentiated instruction and how it can be applied in literacy instruction, specifically reading. Participants will engage in various learning activities through which they will learn and implement teaching strategies designed to provide Differentiated Reading Instruction (DRI) to take advantage of each student’s strengths, interests, and readiness. Participants will learn a reading assessment approach that supports differentiated reading instruction. The subject matter and class activities of this course were selected to inform teaching students from diverse populations.
