• This course introduces students to Francophone short story from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries to better appreciate style and to become familiar with the culture these stories represent. This course also contains a composition study to learn and practice varying language functions, improve writing style and accuracy. Discussion will encompass literary themes and style in class and oral skills will be rehearsed in skits inspired by the stories during labs. Creativity and self-expression are encouraged. Prerequisites: Any 300-level French course. Fall semester, every third year.
  • FRE 353 French Civilization and Literature (4 cr. hrs.)

    A study of the cultural, social and political climate of France since the sixteenth century supported by a detailed study of French poetry; review of selected grammar and sentence structure; and opportunities to speak French. Prerequisites: Any 300-level French course. Spring semester, every third year.

  • This is a beginning French course for students with no or very limited previous study of French. It is intended to develop all key skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing).
