What a privilege God grants us to understand the development of children. God instructs us to Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. Prov 22:6. I trust that the God that gives us this instruction will allow us to learn about the nature and development of our children. Therefore, I believe it is our privilege and duty to learn as much as we can about child development.
This class is the last undergraduate psychology class that many of you will be taking. The writer of Ecclesiastes reminds us "the end of a matter is better than its beginning." (Ecc. 7:8). Daniel encourages us (If I can pull this out of context) to " go your way to the end; then you will enter into rest " (Dan 12:13) and Jesus said "but the one who endures to the end, it is he who shall be saved." (Matt 24:13). My advice is not to rely on finishing your senior seminar course as the means for your eternal salvation, but I do want this course to be a valuable learning experience. As a senior level class, I expect that it will be difficult. I am available during class times, during my office hours and by appointment to help you in any way I can. I am looking forward to a wonderful and exciting semester.

WHY DO PEOPLE DO WHAT THEY DO?
This is the question that has plagued us since the creation. Paul in the book of Romans struggles with the question of why we do what we do. "For that which I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate." - Romans 7:15
